Many suffer in silence every day under the oppression of domestic violence. There are no vacations, no special days off. May God be with those who endure such things and give them the strength and boldness to overcome and become survivors instead of victims.

God says, "At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you." Indeed, the "right time" is now. Today is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2
Life is too short to wait for the "right time" to make a change in your life. The "right time" is now.

God has a purpose for you and He equips those He calls, so do not fear, be very courageous and trust Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us and He will fulfill His purpose for you.

There are thousands of things we can do in life, but only a few things God intends for us to accomplish. He gives you time to do everything you need to do, not what others think you ought to do.

College life

Last week I dropped my oldest daughter off at college. I've already done that once, but with each child I will have to go through separation anxiety. It was them when they were 2, guess its mom's turn! During her first week she has learned to sign up for classes early, how expensive parking is and don't park your truck at the local Kmart because you don't have a parking permit yet. So, here I am a week later heading back to Raleigh to take her a bicycle and bail her truck out of jail. I should have left her just the bike last week, I could've saved $400. Well, that's all part of the "live and learn" motto! I hope she learns this lesson the first time, because I don't want to be the one having to eat ramen noodles.

Today I am contemplating the many hats worn by this mom. Life is out of control, so I take my own coaching advice and step back. What is most important? What do I want my life to look like? Not this hectic mess I've created! God has come to give me life and life more abundant. I should be making the most of every opportunity, but I have taken on responsibilities that He never intended for me to take. Now I'm so busy I don't even recognize the opportunities or I don't have time to indulge them. So, I learn to let go of things that God did not call me to do and focus on that one thing...Christ and His will for me, not the music minister's will, not the pastor's will, or my teenager's will, but His alone.

We have all the time to do everything God wants us to do, not what everyone else thinks we ought to do.
